HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR

Location: Hilo, HI

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Coordinator supports daily HR functions that help Hilo Fish Company attract, onboard, and retain a dependable, engaged workforce. Through responsive service, attention to detail, and sound confidentiality practices, this role helps promote a positive workplace culture and supports the company's continued growth and reputation for dependable service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Partner with outsourced HR Services Provider to manage day-to-day HR and payroll operations.
  • Review, process, and track employment applications and support recruiting activities.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, including preparation of employment documentation, orientation scheduling, and employee file management.
  • Process payroll information accurately and on a timely basis, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and other payroll-related updates.
  • Administer employee benefits enrollment, changes, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure HR processes are administered consistently and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Serve as a resource for team members regarding payroll, benefits, company policies, and routine employment matters, including responding to questions related to pay, paid time off, benefit eligibility and enrollment

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Assist team members in resolving routine issues, completing required forms and documentation, and navigating HR processes.
  • Escalate complex employee relations, compliance, or personnel matters to management as appropriate while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Assist management with employee communications, policy administration, and general HR support.
  • Support special HR projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; Associate degree and equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered.
  • Two or more years of relevant HR, payroll, office administration and recruiting experience.
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license required.
  • Excellent written, verbal and basic math skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain good judgment, and a cairn demeanor in all interpersonal engagements.
